Here are a collection of some photographs I've taken in my home state of New Hampshire. I use these images as references for my illustrations and inspiration for my story of Bearbrook. These photographs capture the beauty that is New England as seen all around, the forests, mountains, and some of the wildlife that all became a part of the world of Bearbrook.

The Journey....

After many years of work in other areas, I knew I had to develop my skills as an artist and designer to pursue my true passion for art. It was time to apply my abilities in new directions. That path would end up becoming the world of Bearbrook, a story I am writing (along with my daughter Tasia) and Illustrating. Illustrating is something I have always loved and spent any spare time practicing and studying. As the world of Bearbrook developed it soon out grew the space I had in the house and a tool shop in the woods behind the house was remodeled into studio space. With the new space, the world of Bearbrook developed at a much faster rate and soon became hundreds of drawings of dozens of new characters and extraordinary places for them to have their adventures. It’s easy to get lost in the woods, simple to stray off the path, and sometimes hard to find a new one. Even easier to get washed downstream in a life changing storm, be swept away from home, and even harder to not only find your way back, but to discover where you end up. This is at least the challenge faced by a young raccoon by the name of Kicky, who finds himself taken from the small pond he had lived all his life and brought into a whole new world within the forest he never even knew existed, until now. Kicky finds himself separated from all he knows, his best friend, his home, and his entire life. That is, until he crosses paths with the map-making rabbit Trotter, who takes Kicky alongside him upon his travels, and thus begins the adventure of a lifetime.

The unlikely pair find themselves in the middle of Bearbrook, the greatest kingdom in the wild, as well as in the middle of the turmoil that consumes it. Kicky discovers the betrayal and corruption within the inner workings of Bearbrook, of which the continuation and growth of the forest itself depends on being resolved though no one has the courage to do so. Kicky develops a true stewardship of the forest, and realizes he must do everything he can to protect it. Finding the strength he never knew he possessed, Kicky sets out to find the truth, and somehow, to make things right. The twists, turns, trees and paths of the forest lead to the greatest adventure of all; finding not only his way home but finding his destiny along the way.
